Designer Bina Rao, who is also a member of the Advisory Committee to the Ministry of Textile (Handloom) of the Government of India says, "The Uppada village has over 400 looms and 50% of them now weave very stylized designs in silk. Most traders have purchased looms from Varanasi and started weaving Uppada saris on Jacquard. Thus, Uppada's real character of weaving skill is lost. A genuine hand woven Uppada sari takes two to three months to weave, whereas the Jacquard loom can weave a sari in 7-8 days. The difference of quality is evident if one sees the reverse side of the sari. Customers need to be care full while paying the price of such duplicates Uppada saris as the quality of silk and jari is poor. At this exhibition at Creative Bee, one will see only the best and original pieces of hand woven and real jari Uppada saris, which are very rare to find. Bina Rao of Creative Bee has been constantly working with the weavers of this village for over two decades and weaver clusters working under Creative Bee umbrella are trained to weave the highest quality in silk yarn with innovative designs, earning more than just substantial lively hood. Creative Bee is known for its pure and ethical approach to truly hand woven and natural yarn-textiles and have loyal patrons for its well priced genuine textile products.
